Welcome to my blog. I’ll do my best to update it regularly (or semi-regularly, at the least…) with news, writing updates, and other assorted thoughts. Read, enjoy, and please share your thoughts and comments. If you’re looking for psychology pieces at the New Yorker, you can find them here. If you’re looking for my old blog about literature and psychology, Literally Psyched, you can find it here.

MASTERMIND cover

July 5, 2012

Here is the cover for the US version of MASTERMIND. I think it’s awfully pretty, and hope you like it:

Many thanks to Les Klinger for ensuring the authenticity of the pipe. And I would love to hear your thoughts on the design!

And don’t forget that MASTERMIND is now available for pre-order, at AmazonBarnes & Noble, and Indiebound. And for British readers, it’s at Amazon’s UK site, too.

  1. You must be so excited! The cover looks great. It’s got a classic “feel” to it. I like the simplicity of the overall design, and the smoke-turning-in-to-brain graphic is very clever (and the sworlies inside = nice touch). I’m looking forward to reading it!

  2. Well done Maria. It is a great cover and I am looking front to reading it.

I came across your blog on Holmes through Scientific American by accident around Christmas and was an avid reader thereafter.

I teach problem-solving with economics through Holmes (much of what you have been exploring – observation, role of expertise etc). I did an MA in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education a few years ago on using the Holmes canon (and the Jeremy Brett TV adaptations) so it was great to come across someone who has minded the canon for the gold that is in there.

Best of wishes and luck with the book.

    Daniel
