Welcome to my blog. I’ll do my best to update it regularly (or semi-regularly, at the least…) with news, writing updates, and other assorted thoughts. Read, enjoy, and please share your thoughts and comments. Con artists on the Charlie Rose show

February 25, 2016

So excited to be back where it all started. Charlie Rose was my first job (or at least, the first one that stuck!) after I graduated from college. It was such an absolute honor to be back last night to talk about THE CONFIDENCE GAME. Not to mention having my segment paired with Kevin Spacey’s! The full video is below, and also available here.

    Dear Maria,

You were so brilliant and beautiful on Charlie’s show! You are so animated and a delight to watch! I’m sorry I missed you in Boston in January and I am looking forward to reading your book. I hope you’ll be giving a presentation on TED talks – a perfect medium for you. As someone who studies religion, I am interested in how individuals and whole societies are manipulated by con artists in belief systems, since genuine religious belief and confidence fakery seem to be on a continuum. So hopefully your book will be a good starting place to begin exploring the topic.

    Best wishes,

    Peter Kussell

Excellent article on Resilience! I couldn’t agree more — sloppy excuses are unhelpful.

Saw you on Bill Maher’s show and then found you here talking to Charlie Rose. Fascinating topic and your expertise and mastery of the subject, and enthusiasm for it, come through in a way that made me order your book just now. We’ve all been played by con artists and your explanations as to why make me laugh out-loud as I remember the few times it happened to me.
